Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days Coming in October

Amazon just announced that this October, the e-commerce giant will be hosting an exclusive event for Prime members — Prime Big Deal Days.

Open to Prime members in 19 countries, Prime Big Deal Days will take place in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.S. and the U.K., the company said in a blog post.

Amazon Capitalizing on Holiday Shoppers

This exclusive event is timed perfectly to catch the eyes of holiday shoppers. Last year’s earlier-than-ever start to the holiday shopping season is driving consumers to expect more of the same this year. According to a new Optimove survey, half of consumers (50%) expect to start their holiday shopping before the calendar turns to November.

When asked what will motivate them to buy, 65% pointed to discounted prices. October is a prime time for Prime Big Deal Days to take place seeing as that is around the time consumers will begin their holiday shopping.

Special Deals for Inflation-Conscious Consumers

This isn’t the first time Amazon held a second Prime members event in October. The e-commerce giant held an October sale following its mid-summer Prime event for the first time last year, according to Retail Dive. The fall Prime deals event last year missed expectations and was estimated to have fallen short of Prime Day itself. With inflation still top of mind for consumers, they will likely stay fixated on finding low prices for the holiday season.

This news may give other retailers the push needed to offer special events or discounts of their own for holiday shopping in order to compete with Amazon.
